"What's Your Favourite Hiking or Biking Trail?"
Whether it's the Kettle Valley Railway, along the
Ironman
route, or
in the back country you'll find a fantastic assortment of biking and hiking trails for all levels. From the valley bottom along the lake to Apex mountain peaks, people are in awe of the scenery - not to mention the flora and fauna.
Our favourite is biking the Kettle Valley Trail starting at Chute Lake and heading towards Penticton. You'll pass rock ovens, go through tunnels, and you'll find yourself frequently stopping to enjoy the spectacular vistas. This map details the route from
Chute Lake to Penticton.
Whatever you're searching for, the Regional District has designed this great site to help you select your route.

S.S. Sicamous
The S.S. Sicamous,
the largest remaining steel-hulled sternwheeler in Canada, is located on the shores of Lake Okanagan at 1099 Lakeshore Drive West, Penticton. It is open to the public and you'll be impressd by the restoration work that has been accomplished on this vessel. Well worth a visit.
The Society also presents, in the summer months, a heritage musical, S.S. Sicamous Follies Encore. Reviews have been excellent!
Summer Saturdays
Summer Saturdays in Penticton are savoured.I recommend you start with a wander down to the lake, picking up a fresh roasted coffee on the way. Coffee means sipping and chatting, strolling along the lakeshore and through the Japanese Garden, past the Art Gallery and up historical Front Street to Main Street.
Penticton Farmer's Market
Your nose will lead you to the fresh baked goodies at the Saturday Farmers’ Market. The cinnamon buns cannot be resisted. While sampling and chatting with vendors, it's impossible to not fill your baskets with fresh picked produce and flowers from around the area.
Check out what’s new in the Artisan Market section. It’s all there, from paintings to pottery, to jewelry. Our corner of paradise in Penticton, definitely boasts many talented artisans.
Next window-shop your way through downtown, where you can find eclectic stores. Each one is distinctly different and filled with treasures personally chosen by the owner.
Restaurants, can be found from the Lake to the big blue church (even our churches are unique) on Main Street. If you take a daily stroll, you can eat your way around the world! You can have a choice of Bistro fare, Chinese, Japanese, Multi Cultural, old-time family favourites, Mediterranean, Vietnamese, French, Thai, Jamaican and Greek.
Penticton Pier
It's fun to saunter back to the Lake, stopping to chat with friends, who are people-watching on the sidewalk patios of coffee shops. Back at the lake, you can walk out on the pier and simply sit in silence, wind caressing your hair, watching boats hoisting sails, as they clear the breakwater.
Ahh, just another Saturday in our piece of paradise!
